Orville N. Greene, who helped establish the Center for the Study of Imagination in American Education, died in October.

Greene was the husband of Maxine Greene, the William F. Russell Professor Emeritus in the Foundations of Education. Together they created the Center for the Arts, Social Imagination and Education at TC. The Center is an important tribute to Professor Greene's prodigious contributions to the subject of art and aesthetics in education. She continues to play an important role at the Center.

Her late husband was a patent attorney at Greene, Callmann & Durr. He was also a co-founder of Eventide, Inc., an audio-electronics and avionics company.

His survivors include Professor Greene, two children and two grandchildren. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the Epilepsy Foundation of America in Landover, Maryland or the Neurology Department of the Mayo Foundation in Scottsdale, Arizona in memory of the couple's late son, Jonathan.
