Professor Suniya Luthar of the Department of Human Development has been awarded the Boyd McCandless award from the American Psychological Association, Division 7. The award will be presented to her at the upcoming 1998 APA conference this summer in San Francisco. Dr. Luthar has received the award in recognition of her major contributions to the field of developmental psychopathology. In particular, Dr. Luthar's research has provided important insights into risk and resilience among adolescents and families who have experienced substance abuse.
