Professor Genishi Recognized by AACTE

At the 50th anniversary celebration of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), Celia Genishi, Professor of Education in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching, was recognized by the Committee on Multicultural Education as an Advocate for Justice.
At the 50th anniversary celebration of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), Celia Genishi, Professor of Education in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching, was recognized by the Committee on Multicultural Education as an Advocate for Justice. The 1998 annual meeting was held in New Orleans from February 25-28. In a letter to Professor Genishi, the president of AACTE, Dale Anderson, wrote that the theme of the conference, "Lessons from the Past: Challenges for the Future," prompted "us to reflect on the accomplishments of many who have made great strides in multicultural education; and your professional contributions have done much to advance the knowledge, skills and abilities of those who aspire to teach children."
