A Campus of Difference: Valuing Diversity on the Teachers College Campus
Steven Katz and Yvonne Taylor, facilitators with the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith's A World of Difference Institute, drew on the collective experiences of the participants to insure open communication and dialogue.
The institute was formed by the Anti-Defamation League to foster intergroup understanding. The program's agenda examined concepts of stereotypes and assumptions; discussed issues related to discrimination and bigotry on campus; provided participants with ways to empower themselves; and identified how diversity on campus enhances the environment.
Similar workshops on diversity were held in the fall of 1999 with a total of 81 members of the TC community attending.
