Christo and Jeanne-Claude Donate $8,000 in Artwork
Posters signed by the artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude were exhibited at Macy Gallery, from March 5 to March 23.
A reception honoring the artists took place on Saturday, March 17th from 1:00 to 4:00pm in the gallery. This event coincided with the National Art Education Association conference held in New York City this year. The public was invited to attend the Christo and Jeanne-Claude reception and exhibition in Macy Gallery.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude, known for their "Wrapping of the Reichstag" in Germany; the surrounding of the Biscayne Bay islands in Florida; the umbrella project in Japan and California; and other large scale, site-specific art projects, live and work in New York City. This exhibition highlights their long-standing commitment to art and art education.
This gallery show was made possible by Christo and Jeanne-Claude through their donation of 26 hand-signed posters to Teachers College and the TC Student Chapter of the National Art Education Association. Additional financial support for the exhibition was provided by the Florence H. and Eugene E. Myers Charitable Remainders Unitrust.
