TC to Dedicate the Edmund W. Gordon Campus
Join the festivities on Thursday afternoon, December 15th, from 3-6 pm., as TC dedicates its offices at the Theresa Towers (2090 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and 125th Street, 8th floor) as the new Edmund W. Gordon Campus. The event, which celebrates the work of TC's professor emeritus of psychology, also marks the work of the TC Education Zone Partnership.
Dr. Gordon, founder of TC's Institute for Urban and Minority Education, has been a lifelong champion of 'supplementary education' -- the idea that children must be enveloped by a scaffold of caring community and family to ensure that out-of-school educational experiences positively shape their intellectual development and well-being. Most recently, he was named a special advisor to The Campaign for Educational Equity.
The TC Education Partnership Zone is the College's network of partnerships with the New York City school system in Regions 9 and 10, which encompass Northern Manhattan and parts of the Bronx.
The event will include remarks by Congressman Charles Rangel, refreshments, and special entertainment by the Heritage School Fusion Ensemble. Roundtrip transportation will be provided from the main entrance of the College. Please RSVP by December 8th to 212 678-3412.
