'No Child' in Rockland
New York's former education commissioner and a former New York Times education columnist will be the keynote speakers for an upcoming countywide symposium on the federal law dubbed "No Child Left Behind."
Thomas Sobol, now a professor at Teachers College at Columbia University, and author Richard Rothstein, now a senior correspondent with The American Prospect, will talk about the impact of the law that was designed to make schools accountable for children's progress.
The men are the headliners for "Making Our Voices Heard," a daylong seminar set for Nov. 3 at Rockland Community College to get Rockland's input on the federal education law. The law that is set to expire, or be renewed, in 2007.
