Think You're a Science Whiz?
In his State of the Union address in January, U.S. President George W. Bush pledged some $380 million US to strengthen science and technology education over the next 10 years.
Recently several science gurus Nobel Prize winners, institute heads, teachers and others who spend most of their time thinking about science were asked, "What is one science question every high school graduate should be able to answer?" After sharing ideas, they compiled a list of ten essential science questions.
Even if you did learn basic science in school, these highly specific questions might be tough to answer, according to O. Roger Anderson, professor of science education at Teachers College at Columbia University. By Anderson's estimate, the typical adult would probably get about half right.
