Trustee James Comer Urges Sweeping Changes in Education
In the January 16th, 2008 issue of Education Week, TC Trustee and Yale professor James Comer, who pioneered in applying principles of child and adolescent development to education, addresses an open letter to the nation's next president, asking for a reconceptualization of American schools on the order of Congress's efforts a century ago to put farming in this country on a scientific footing.
In the January 16th, 2008 issue of Education Week, TC Trustee and Yale professor James Comer, who pioneered in applying principles of child and adolescent development to education, addresses an open letter to the nation's next president, asking for a reconceptualization of American schools on the order of Congress's efforts a century ago to put farming in this country on a scientific footing. "America eventually became the breadbasket of the world," Comer writes. "American education, too, can be... a model for preparing all young people to participate in the economic life of the country, become successful family and community members, and help protect and promote peace and democracy."
