Janice Robinson, TC's longtime General Counsel and head of its Office of Diversity and Community, has been promoted to Vice President for Diversity and Community Affairs.
Janice Robinson, TC’s longtime General Counsel and head of its Office of Diversity and Community, has been promoted to Vice President for Diversity and Community Affairs.

In creating the new position at the vice president level, TC is “recognizing and backing this work as central to our mission as an educational institution,” said TC President Susan Fuhrman in announcing the new position and the choice of Robinson to fill it. Robinson will retain her duties as General Counsel until the College has completed its search for her successor.

Robinson is being aided in her new role by Jolene A. Lane, TC’s new Director for Diversity and Community. Lane previously served as Executive Director of Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA), a not-for-profit organization that identifies and prepares public high school students from underrepresented backgrounds for admission to the nation’s most highly selective colleges and universities. Prior to that, Lane was the founding principal of a public charter high school in Richmond, California, as well as the Director of Education of an independent middle school in Providence, Rhode Island.

Thomas Rock, formerly Director of Admissions, has been promoted to Executive Director of Enrollment Services. Rock will continue to oversee the Office of Admissions, but will also provide leadership and oversight to the Financial Aid Office, Marketing and SIS/Technology support for enrollment and student service areas. Rock has been covering these areas on an interim basis over the past few months.

Katie Embree, the Associate Vice Provost, has agreed to add Student Services to her responsibilities. In addition to her other duties, Embree will provide leadership and oversight to Career Services, International Services, Student Activities and Programs—including student groups and the TC Student Senate—and Access and Services to Individuals with Disabilities. z
