TC's Silverman Honored by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance

Stephen Silverman, Professor of Education and Program Coordinator in Physical Education, has been named the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance 2010-2011 Alliance Scholar - the highest honor for career scholarship for someone who is a member of AAHPERD.
Stephen Silverman, Professor of Education and Program Coordinator in Physical Education, has been named the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance 2010-2011 Alliance Scholar – the highest honor for career scholarship for someone who is a member of AAHPERD. Silverman, whose work focuses on teaching and research methodology in physical education, will present the Alliance Scholar Lecture at the AAHPERD 2011 convention in San Diego.
 
Silverman has made over 150 presentations to international, national and regional groups and published more than 100 chapters and papers. He is the co-author of 15 books related to teaching and research methods, including Student Learning in Physical Education: Applying Research to Enhance Instruction and multiple editions of the Proposals that Work: A Guide to Planning Dissertations and Grant Proposals, Research Methods in Physical Activity, and Reading and Understanding Research. Silverman also was coordinator of a $1.1 million Teachers College Spencer Foundation Research Training Grant that addressed the preparation of educational researchers. He is a past editor of the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport and the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education.  He is a fellow of AERA and has served as President of the AAHPERD Research Consortium, Chair of the Curriculum and Instruction Academy and President of the American Academy for Kinesiology and Physical Education.
