Bringing Education to the Table

Wellness, of many kinds is the theme of TC'sthird annualAcademic Festival, in April.
TC’s third annual Academic Festival, which will be held on campus on Saturday, April 16th, will be themed “Learn to Live Well: Bringing Education to the Table.”

The full-day event, which features faculty, alumni and students, will include sessions on health, nutrition, the arts, humanities, psychology, and leadership.

The program highlights will include the Kossoff Lecture on Education & Policy, which will be delivered by Cathleen Black, the new Chancellor of New York City Public Schools.

There will also be a keynote address delivered by TC alumnus Ian Smith, the internationally known physician and author who hosts the syndicated radio program “Health Watch with Dr. Ian Smith,” and who launched the 50 Million Pound Challenge. And alumna "Dr. Ruth" Westheimer will participate in a panel discussion.

A group of distinguished TC alumni will be honored by the College, including the philanthropist and educator Samuel Peabody; the education scholar Diane Ravitch; Violeta Pretroska-Beska, the Macedonian psychologist and human rights activist; Ruth Christ Sullivan, an organizer and lifelong crusader for education for people with autism; genocide scholar Samuel Totten; Paul O’Neill, Senior Counsel and  Senior Vice President of Edison Schools; and Janna Spark, author, psychologist and education consultant.
