TC’s Office of School and Community Partnerships (OSCP) announced that TC alumna Kecia Hayes has been named Director of the Teachers College Partnership Schools Consortium. Hayes will guide TC's engagement in a consortium of schools in upper Manhattan, where TC will leverage its teaching, research and service in support of comprehensive educational opportunity.

The TC Partnership Schools consortium formalizes and extends OSCP's work with the Teachers College Community School, Heritage High School, Harlem Schools Partnership, Harlem Ivy and other initiatives. It is codified in a Memorandum of Understanding with the New York City Department of Education. In her role, Hayes will coordinate TC's involvement in the consortium, develop and manage the scope of work at the schools, and create a robust network of TC-affiliated schools.

Prior to joining TC, Hayes held positions with the New York State Department of Education, New Visions for Public Schools, and on the faculty in the Educational Leadership program at Montclair State University. She received a PhD in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center, and an MA and EdM in Educational Administration from Teachers College. Her research interests include university-school partnerships, intersections of school reform and community development, educational experiences of urban youth and families, and educational leadership for transformation of urban schools.
