The mental health field's new diagnostic manual was published last May to widespread controversy. In January, hosted by TC psychology professor Philip Saigh, Columbia psychiatrist and past DSM author Michael First described how the manual's increased focus on causes rather than symptoms has changed disorder groupings in some problematic ways.
