 The Korea Alumni Association celebrated "A Night of NY Jazz in Autumn" this September as part of TC's 125th Anniversary. Japan Alumni Associationhosted a MyShare event in September to help develop relationships and exchange ideas on three areas of focus: textbooks, technology and assessment rubrics.

Ann Spungen (Ed.D. '96), Associate Director of the National Center of Excellence for the Medical Consequences of Spinal Cord Injury, received the Science and Environment Medal - a Samuel J. Heyman Service to AmericaMedal. Spungen alongside Director Bauman "developed innovative medical advances and novel drug therapies to treat these ailments, helping to improve the health and quality of life for paralyzed veterans." TC's Dr. Ernest Morrell Delivers Keynote Address at 2014 Literacy Summit TC's Ernest Morrell delivered the keynote address at Calvin College's third-annual Community Literacy Summit, hosted by The Community Literacy Initiative of the Literacy Center of West Michigan. Morrell, who is the director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education, and a professor of English education at TC,discussed a socially, culturally and technologically relevant model of literacy education - developed along withcolleagues at TC - that engages students, parents, and communities civically and develops academic literacies needed for success in school and beyond. His remarks echoed the conference's theme, "Everyone is a teacher of literacy."Read More >>

Scholar Spotlight Bhavini Surana, a doctoral student in the Department of Movement Sciences from Gujarat, India, focuses on Pediatric Physical Therapy in her research and practice at TC. She works with Professor Andrew Gordon, Professor of Movement Sciences, on research to improve lower-limb function in children with Cerebral Palsy.Surana is supported at TC by the generosity of Mariam (M.A. -'98) and Shervin Korangy, whose scholarship funds doctoral students in Movement Sciences or Neuroscience and Education. TC Fund: New Faculty Spotlight Haeny Yoon, Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Education, joins ten new TC faculty members from disciplines ranging from higher education and counseling psychology, to early childhood education and computing and technology. Yoon, who focuses her research on the intersection of children's cultural practices, teacher practice and curriculum within classroom contexts, brings with her a wealth of knowledge and research that will only add to the academic vitality students experience at TC.
