Trustee Urwitz in Newsday Op-Ed: "Trashing Tenure Won't Improve Teaching"
Writing in Newsday, TC Trustee Jay Urwitz argues that New York Governor Cuomo's focus on dismantling teacher tenure is the wrong way to improve teaching. Instead, Urwitz argues, New York State should begin requiring new hires to have had classroom experience as a student teacher, and also institute a budget appropriation process that eliminates late hiring.
