We are hiring an evaluation project coordinator!

The evaluation project coordinator will work on several evaluations of partner organizations that create healthy school environments, foster farm-to-school programming, encourage physical activity and promote healthy, sustainable eating.

The Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education & Policy, Teachers College, Columbia University, cultivates research about connections between a just, sustainable food system and healthy eating and translates it into recommendations and resources for educators, policy makers, and community advocates. The Center focuses on schools as critical levers for learning and social change. 

We are hiring an evaluation project coordinator to work on a number of multi-year evaluations of partner organizations that create healthy school environments, foster farm-to-school programming, encourage physical activity and promote healthy, sustainable eating.

Under the supervision of the primary evaluation investigators, the evaluation project coordinator will work closely with internal and external team members and oversee day-to-day implementation of the projects. This includes organizing data collection and entry, hiring and training student assistants, budgeting, scheduling data collection, and coordinating all meetings related to these projects. This individual will be in regular contact with partner organizations’ staff about logistical details of the projects.

Job summary:

  • Oversee all aspects of data collection and data entry including hiring and training student assistants, scheduling site visits to schools, managing data collection on site, and ensuring that data collection and data entry follow protocols and procedures
  • Ensure that there is regular and clear communication among project partners (partner organizations, schools, evaluation team)
  • Create and monitor project work plans and timelines
  • Assist in preparation of reports
  • Manage project budgets
  • Help prepare and submit applications to relevant institutional review boards
  • Work with Tisch Food Center staff on other Center activities

Minimum qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Public Administration, Food Studies or related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience with some combination of the following (up to (1) year of experience could have been gained during course of academic study):
    • Coordination of team working on complex, multi-component program or project
    • Coordination among multiple program partners
    • Implementation and management of a research project
    • Working with schools either as a member of the school community or as an outside researcher or program staff
    • Managing budgets
  • Highly organized and skilled at time management
  • Ability to be self-directed and work independently to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication
  • Passionate about supporting connections between a just, sustainable food system and healthy eating, particularly in schools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with institutional review boards
  • Ability to employ high level statistical analysis to produce reports and recommendations
  • Experience conducting research in school settings
