The Physical Education program co-sponsored ateaching in-service seminarwith Columbia's Department of Physical Education & Intercollegiate Athletics Department and Project SPARK.
Stephen Silverman co-authored Proposals that Work: A Guide for Planning Dissertations and Grant Proposals (Sage, sixth edition) -'" one of his three best-selling research methodology texts, along with Research Methods in Physical Activity and Reading and Understanding Research. Silverman keynoted the Association International des Ecoles Superieures de Education Physique World Congress.
Andrew Gordon's National Institutes of Health presentation detailed cerebral palsy research and funding priorities. Gordon delivered the Gayle G. Arnold Lecture of the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
With Wyncote Foundation funding, TC's Catherine Crowley led the creation of books distributed domestically and in Latin America on Spanish sounds misarticulated by children with cleft palate repair.
TC's Global Investment Fund backed Erika Levy's Belgian study oftreatment for a cerebral palsy-related childhoodspeech disorder. Levybecame Associate Editorof The Journal of Phonetics.
Karen Froud and Reem Khamis-Dakwar (Ph.D. '07) edited Perspectives on Arabic Linguistics XXVI (Johns Benjamins). Froud, student Trey Avery and TC psychologist Jeanne Brooks-Gunn studied mindfulness practices' impact on children.
Peter Gordon's article in Language Acquisition explored how children alter and combine words for different meanings. Gordon published "Numerical Cognition and Language Development" in The Encyclopedia of Language Development.
Carol Ewing Garber became President of theAmerican College of Sports Medicine andkeynoted at meetings nationwide and abroad.
Joseph Cicollo coauthored articles on resistance exercise and received federal funding to study the method as a smoking cessation aid.
