Dear Alumni and Friends:
This summer, with the help of many gracious alumni volunteers, the Office of Alumni Relations is bringing the Teachers College spirit to four continents, twelve countries, and over twenty cities through Global TC Day, our biennial celebration of TC around the world. Created in 2013 to mark TC’s 125th Anniversary, this international event has developed into a beloved tradition. It is a reminder of the College’s global reach and of the fact that no matter where our alumni go after graduation, they always remain part of TC through their ideals, their aspirations and their efforts to build a better world. Alumni, students, family and friends will celebrate Global TC Day this year by sharing a meal in São Paulo; touring the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta; hike to the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles; attending a “human library” in Tokyo; and much more. Most importantly, they will connect and reconnect with one another and grow their local TC networks.
Though Global TC Day officially takes place on July 25, alumni have planned events throughout the summer – so there is still time to find an event near you. If you are unable to attend an event in person, you can show your TC spirit online. Post a photo using #GlobalTCDay and let us know where in the world you are celebrating. We will share your photo on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Another way to be a part of this special occasion is to lend your support to the TC Annual Fund. As President Thomas Bailey has emphasized throughout the year, alumni participation in the Annual Fund is vital to helping the College continue its important work across disciplines. The Fund supports everything from programs and faculty to financial aid. Consider celebrating TC's legacy and impact around the world by making a gift of any amount in honor of Global TC Day at tc.edu/give.
My colleagues and I look forward to seeing many smiling alumni faces at our celebrations around the world.
Happy Global TC Day!
