This is picture of Dr. Prerna Arora, Associate Professor of School Psychology

Dr. Prerna Arora is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Education in the Department of Health Studies and Applied Educational Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Arora is a licensed clinical psychologist. Her research focuses on the development and dissemination of evidence-based, culturally-informed mental health interventions for historically marginalized youth and adolescents, with a particular focus on depression and suicide prevention. Dr. Arora is presently Principal Investigator of a National Institute of Mental Health funded grant, “Strategic Treatment Assessment with Youth (STAY): A measurement-based care approach to promote treatment retention among racial and ethnic minoritized youth with depression or suicide risk.” Dr. Arora provides clinical supervision for school and clinical child psychology graduate students and teaches a two-part series called Evidence-Based Interventions for Youth and Adolescents 1 and  and 2, both core classes within the school psychology and the CITY Program. 

Dr. Melissa Collier Meek

Dr. Mel Collier-Meek is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Education in the Department of Health Studies and Applied Educational Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Collier-Meek is a licensed psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Her research focuses on applied school-based implementation, intervention fidelity, and teacher consultation and coaching. Dr. Collier-Meek is presently co-Principal Investigator of an Institute of Education Sciences grant, “Project PRIME2: Planning Realistic Intervention implementation and Maintenance by Educators,” a five year efficacy trial to evaluate support for elementary teachers' implementation of function-based interventions. She provides supervision for school psychology graduate students and teaches a two-part series called Consultation 1 and 2, both core classes within the school psychology and CITY Program.

Kaitlin Gould

Dr. Kaitlin Gould is a Lecturer and Director of the School Psychology Ed.M. Program in the Department of Health Studies and Applied Educational Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University.  Dr. Gould is a licensed psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She also serves as the Publications Committee Co-Chair and Grants Committee Co-Chair for the New York Association of School Psychologists (NYASP). Her research focuses on parent-mediated and school-based intervention to support behavioral difficulties. Dr. Gould provides supervision for school psychology graduate students and teaches the supervised fieldwork courses, which are core classes within the school psychology and CITY Program.




Sarina Alavi
Graduate Research Assistant

Sarina Alavi is a PhD student in the school psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University, co-advised by Drs. Arora and Collier-Meek. Sarina earned her MA in clinical psychology from Teachers College in 2023 after graduating with a BA in psychology and a BA in education, learning, and behavior studies from University of California, Riverside. During her master’s program, Sarina was an Arthur Zankel Urban Fellow, which gave her the opportunity to work as a social-emotional learning teacher in New York City’s Title 1 schools. Sarina currently works on Project PRIME2, and her interests lie in systems-based and culturally responsive intervention practices as well as the relations among research, practice, and policy.
