DFI collaborates with Teachers College faculty and community members to create and support the creation of media for use in pedagogy, scholarship and research. Together we produce original podcasts and video series, support multimodal research, and provide trainings and resources to foster the use of media to create connections within and beyond the university.

Episode 7: Centering Play in Children’s Media with Teletubbies Co-creator Andy Davenport
Haeny and Nathan welcome to the show Andy Davenport, one of the creators of the hit children’s show Teletubbies. Find out about the origins of the show, the inspiration behind the teletubbies themselves, and Davenport’s background in children’s language development that all contribute to the show we know and love. This deep dive into the world of Teletubbies with its rolling hills and baby sun will get deep into why play is so vital to children’s experience of media.

New Episode of Curriculum Encounters!
Episode 5: What is Curriculum (and where might we find it)?
A key takeaway from this episode—and the season as a whole—is the idea that curriculum is not just a set of prescribed knowledge, but a social, spatial, and sensory process. Learning happens everywhere, not just in formal educational settings. Jackie and Sarah encourage educators to recognize the importance of these informal, sensory, and embodied forms of knowing and to consider how they might be integrated into curriculum design to create more engaging and holistic learning experiences.
