Natsiopoulou, Eleni D. (edn5)

Eleni Natsiopoulou completed her Ph.D. at Columbia University in International and Comparative Education and Sociology. Her dissertation compared student discipline practices at two high schools, one located in New York City and the other one in Athens. The findings indicated that more indiscipline is created in schools when there is more bureaucratization and a high number of rules. Her research interests include educational policy implementation and its effects, institutional control and governmentality in education, critical pedagogy, and emancipatory curricula and teaching methodologies. 

 Dr. Natsiopoulou is passionate about sociology and social theory, which she teaches at Teachers College.
