Biographical Information
Many students miss out on valuable learning opportunities because they struggle with issues related to motivation. I study students' motivation to learn during adolesence, youth, and emerging adulthood. I especially focus on how students think about their motivation for learning opportunities and career paths in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). I am curious about how students weigh the factors that motivate them towards and away from STEM learning opportunities, how these processes change over students' learning, and how to design interventions to create learning contexts that help motivate students in STEM most effectively. My ultimate goal is to broaden participation in STEM learning opportunities by helping students see their value.
