Biographical Information
Tyffanie Ammeter, MS, RDN, CSG, CDN (she/her) is a Registered Dietitian who earned a Master of Science in Nutrition & Public Health from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also a Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition. Additionally, Tyffanie has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Prior to becoming a registered dietitian, she worked in technical accounting for several years in Santiago, Chile. One of her biggest lifetime accomplishments is becoming fluent in Spanish.
Tyffanie currently works as a Community Nutrition Specialist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia. She developed and runs bilingual telenutrition programs for senior citizens in the Washington Heights and Inwood communities. It currently includes a combination of virtual & in-person group workshops at local senior centers and the use of innovative video technology to provide individualized nutrition counseling.
Outside of her full-time job, Tyffanie provides consulting services including tutoring for the RD exam and guest speaking. She is delighted to return to Teachers College as an adjunct instructor for the Dietetic Internship course.
Tyffanie has a passion for providing culturally humble patient-centered care that is weight-inclusive. She enjoys connecting with and learning from others, as well as collaborating with communities to advocate for positive change. Her professional interests include teaching & precepting dietetic students, trauma-informed and weight-inclusive practices, the intersection of diet & mental health, ethics in the nutrition profession, Spanish language skills for dietitians, and best practices for nutrition education.
