Ethics & Safety Amid Uncertainty Training Modules
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created significant research changes. Independent researchers, research labs, and centers paused in-person study activities and braced for short and long-term disruptions. Some researchers transitioned in-person data collection to online platforms, while others paused in-person data collection indefinitely.
The Research Compliance & Safety Committee (RCSC) has designated phases to describe the gradual approach to re-starting on-campus research in-person. The RCSC has also developed the Ethics & Safety Amid Uncertainty Training Modules focused on in-person, research-related activities involving human subjects, and they complement the “Teachers College Environmental Health & Safety Team COVID-19 Guide to Return to Campus.”
The Ethics & Safety Amid Uncertainty Training Modules are designed for researchers who plan to engage in person for recruitment or data collection. If you do not engage in person for research purposes, you are not required to complete this training module.
The average completion time for these training modules is two hours, depending on reading speed. The modules are self-paced and do not have to be completed all in one session.
As ever, we are working hard to ensure everyone’s safety as we cautiously resume aspects of our research operations. We remain grateful for your flexibility and patience, and wish you all continued health, safety, and productivity.
