Establishing a Partnership

TR@TC Global Citizens acts as a hub to create rich, hands-on learning experiences for high school students. These are collaboratively developed with teachers in partnering schools. Partnering teachers are interested in collectively working to extend their vision of teaching and learning while honing skills of collaboration and curriculum design. We aim to support teachers to inquire deeply in investigations that result in the creation of learning opportunities that benefit students far beyond the program.

As the hub, TR@TC Global Citizens offers:

  • A standards-aligned curriculum that is collaboratively designed with a team of teachers from partner schools;
  • Immersive learning opportunities for students;
  • Access to spaces where teachers of all disciplines can further develop their practice;
  • All materials and resources related to enacting the curriculum;
  • Opportunities to connect with scientists, engineers, artists, and a variety of community leaders as they consider possible post-secondary pathways.

TR@TC Global Citizens welcomes any interested students who attend partnering schools to participate in the program. Partnering schools often prioritize recruiting English learners, students with disabilities, students who are undercredited, and any other students who may have had less access to rigorous experiential learning spaces.

Partnering Schools are responsible for:

  • Awarding course credit to participating students based on the curriculum provided;
  • Reviewing and collecting waivers, field trip forms, and other documentation needed for student participation;
  • Providing MetroCards to students participating in the program;
  • Funding teachers using standard summer school payment for participating teachers (schools need to meet standard NYCPS field trip teacher-to-student ratios).

TR@TC Global Citizens collaborate with partnering schools to work through the logistics of becoming program participants.
