Dr. Yianella Blanco
Assistant Professor of Education at the University of California Davis

Dr. Yianella Blanco graduated from the Social Studies Education program in 2022. She then packed all her belongings and moved out west to begin her new position as an Assistant Professor of Education at the University of California Davis, where she was hired as part of a unique search for scholars whose research sits at the intersection of education and Latinx studies. At Davis, she has continued her research with Central American communities and co-organized their inaugural Chicane/x & Latine/x Education Symposium. She also co-led efforts to launch their new ethnic studies pathway in their teacher education program. Her recent scholarship appears in journals such as Curriculum Inquiry and Race, Ethnicity and Education, as well as in edited volumes published by Harvard Education Press and Teachers College Press. When not learning and building with her amazing colleagues, she is exploring new corners of the California coast with her partner, Matt, their daughter Carmen and their dog Babka.
