Zhizi (ZZ) is a doctoral student in Applied Linguistics at Teachers College, Columbia University. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s Degree of Science in Education (Teaching, Learning, and Leadership), where she also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Wharton Business School. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from the English College, Shanghai International Studies University (上外). She also has been working as a conference and live speech interpreter at more than 80 international conferences, for clients that include a U. S. Federal Chief Judge,  governors, embassy ambassadors, the Chairman of the Nobel Prize Committee, provincial and municipal government senior officials, chairmen of some of the largest companies in the world, Nobel Prize Winner and city mayors.

Before joining Teachers College, she worked as a full-time lecturer teaching translation/conference interpreting, English debating, and English public speaking courses to English majors for two universities in China for four years, and for NC State University and Elon University as an adjunct lecturer.

When she is not busy, you will find her gardening, oil-painting, or trying to break her own DDR/Pump-It-Up record at Dave and Buster's.
